Oxandrolone (informally referred to simply as “oxa”) is one of the safest anabolic steroids and is widely used for fat burning, although it also has anabolic properties for building lean muscle mass. It is quite popular among women as it is one of the few that they can use without serious complications or withdrawal, but even so it has proven to be quite effective in men as well.

This substance is derived from dihydrotestosterone (DHT), which is basically DHT with an oxygen atom added instead of carbon-2. This modification makes the hormone more anabolic and less androgenic, which eliminates many unwanted side effects.

Oxandrolone directly contributes to the disappearance of abdominal fat due to its strong binding to the androgen receptor of adipose tissue located in this area, as well as its ability to decrease thyroxine-binding globulin levels and increase thyroxine-binding prealbumin levels, which leads to an increase in triiodothyronine (T3 [one of the thyroid hormones]) utilisation.

On the other hand, increased muscle mass is achieved by increasing nitrogen retention in the muscle, decreasing glucocorticoid hormone levels as well as levels of sex hormone binding globulin (HSPG, its English acronym). Higher nitrogen retention creates an environment more suitable for anabolism, while lower retention promotes catabolism. Glucocorticoid hormones are responsible for (among other things) fat storage and muscle catabolism, which is the exact opposite of what you’re looking for. Finally, lowering HGH leads to greater results from using other steroids because it promotes higher levels of free testosterone, and other steroids will bind to androgen receptors in the muscles rather than HGH.

As if that wasn’t enough, like other anabolic steroids, oxandrolone also causes an increase in the number of red blood cells in the blood, leading to greater muscular and cardiovascular endurance and increased vascularity.

For men, it may not be as effective as a steroid for gaining mass, but the resulting gains in muscle mass will be completely lean, without fluid retention, longer lasting and easier to maintain than with other steroids. On the other hand, women may be the ones who get the most out of using this hormone, after all, they usually don’t seek such extreme muscle mass gains as men do.
